EN 1090

The EN 1090 standard is a set of certification requirements for (stainless) steel and aluminum constructions with execution class EXC2. From 1 July 2014 this standard will become a standard condition for welding projects. To meet this standard, a company must be in possession of 2 things:

WPQR certificate: to obtain this certificate, each welding method must be described and then welded and tested in the presence of a tester. The weld undergoes a series of destructive and non-destructive testing to see if the weld meets the requirements. This is an expensive and time-consuming process. Obtaining a certificate for 1 welding method quickly comes between € 1100 and € 3000. A company quickly needs 7 certificates. However, there is a simpler solution. EWM has itself drawn up a series of WPQR certificates, with corresponding specifications for additives. Provided that the additive used meets the specifications, the certificates for welding equipment from ALL BRANDS apply. This package of certificates can be purchased from us.

Calibration: what does this mean? Before proceeding to calibration, the device is first blown out, visually checked and tested for proper operation. When this has been done, the calibration is started. Hereby the minimum and maximum welding current is checked (with respect to the display value), increasing from the minimum value to the maximum value, with 3 measuring points in between, to then return to the minimum value, also with 3 measuring points in between. While checking the welding current, the open circuit voltage also becomes checked (where applicable). With cam-operated devices, the current is checked against the set value. The correctness of the wire feed is also determined for each type of device (from where application) checked, starting with the minimum value rising to the maximum value, with back 3 measuring points in between. If a device falls within all of the tolerance limits, established by the EN 50504 standard of 2008, this device receives a certificate and may be used for welding on structures that must comply with the EN 1090 standard. This certificate is valid for 1 year.

Validation: if a device undergoes a repair, then this device must undergo a certified inspection after repair to continue to comply with the EN 1090 standard. This check covers the safety of the device, more specifically the isola standard of the device.

We are authorized to perform the calibration of all types of devices of all brands! (Missing digital reading of voltage and current)
